Miami Back Pain Treatment

The Miami Spine Center Utilizes Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy

The Miami Spine Center has developed an effective spinal rehabilitation program for conditions of the lumbar spine (low back) and cervical spine (neck), with focus on chronic and severe cases. The program consists of non-surgical spinal decompression therapy focused on decompressing the discs to reverse high amounts of pressure built up in the discs to take the pressure off of the nerves. Ancillary care is available in the form of braces, nutrition, home care, orthotics, E-stim, physiotherapy, and spinal manipulation.

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression simplified

Non-surgical Spinal Decompression is a pain-free procedure designed to relieve the pressure that can build up on the discs and nerves.

As pressure builds inside the disc, the viscous, jelly-like tissue contained inside can be placed under so much force it will eventually lead to the annulus, or outer band of the disc, to bulge, herniate or rupture. (Figure 1)

When the disc has ruptured or "herniated," it more often than not creates pressure against one or more of the spinal nerves. When pressure is applied to nerves in the spine, severe or chronic pain can radiate to the legs or arms.

Non-surgical Decompression is believed to create a negative pressure within the disc. This negative pressure may allow the herniated or bulging material to be drawn slowly inward toward the center of the disc. (Figure 2) Once the impinging material is removed from the nerve, in some cases the pain being experienced is almost immediately relieved.

A Noninvasive, Gentler Road to Back Pain Recovery

The latest research has shown in many cases less invasive, natural treatments should be the starting point for back pain relief.

New guidelines from The American College of Physicians recommend starting back pain therapy with more natural treatments and only turning to drugs or surgery if these noninvasive therapies have little or no effect.

Versatile, Effective, Natural Back Pain Relief

If you are suffering from chronic pain related to any of the conditions below, there is an excellent chance non-surgical spinal decompression could help you.

Healthy Spine & Discs
Healthy Spine & Discs

A condition wherein the spinal canal (the spaces through which the spinal cord runs) narrows and compresses the spinal cord, cauda equina, and/or sciatic nerve roots. Numbness or pain may result.

Spinal Stenosis
Spinal Stenosis

A condition wherein the spinal canal (the spaces through which the spinal cord runs) narrows and compresses the spinal cord, cauda equina, and/or sciatic nerve roots. Numbness or pain may result.

Disc Bulge
Disc Bulge

A medical condition affecting the spine, in which a slight out-pouching of the disc is apparent without any significant herniation. The bulge in many cases applies pressure to a nerve(s) causing back and or extremity pain.

Disc Herniation
Disc Herniation

A medical condition affecting the spine, in which a tear in the outer fibrous ring of an inter-vertebral disc allows the soft, central portion to bulge out. In most cases, the extruding material applies pressure to the nerve(s) causing chronic back pain and or extremity pain.

Disc Degeneration
Disc Degeneration

In most cases the natural wear and tear of the spinal discs. This can occur due to age and the drying out of the discs over time, leading to the discs losing support and function. Degenerative disc pain is usually felt in the legs, thighs and buttocks, lower back and neck.

Sciatica
Sciatica

A symptom including pain that may be caused by general compression and/or irritation of one of five nerve roots that give rise to the sciatic nerve, or by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve itself. The pain is felt in the lower back, buttock, and/or various parts of the leg and foot.
